A Tribute

Dear Blog Friends,

I will be taking a few weeks off from the Gardening Matters Tillamook blog.

It is with a broken heart I announce the passing of my dear husband of 53 years, Gary Albright. It was very sudden, although with increasing heart issues, not totally unexpected. He passed peacefully in his sleep after kissing me goodnight and telling me how much he loved me. I couldn't have asked for more.

Those of you who knew Gary will remember him as a vibrant force of nature, always moving at full speed at whatever he was doing. It was his mission in life to help as many people - and especially young people - as he could. Most recently he was enjoying being an adjunct professor and math and writing tutor at the Tillamook Bay Community College where he was adored by his students.

As per Gary's request, there will be no service, so we ask you to remember Gary in your own way. And tell those people closest to you that you love them and treasure them, for every day is precious.

I plan to still be at the TillaBook Fair at the Garibaldi Museum on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, from 10 AM to 2 PM. I will have some books to sell at Book Fair special rates so you can stock up for Christmas gifts. I would love to chat a while and I will be doing a book reading at 12:30 PM if you want to stop by and listen. ~Carla

Karen, it is very kind of you to reach out. As you can imagine, these have been difficult days. Gary and I met in 1969 and we were married in 1970, 53 years ago. I am sorry you didn;t get to meet him...he was a very special man.
